Nestled beside the stunning National Trust property Barrington Court, Hectors House is a charming, dog friendly retreat in the heart of the conservation village of Barrington. Surrounded by chocolate box stone and thatched cottages and rolling countryside, it's a true walkers paradise for both people and their four legged companions.

Whether you are stopping over en-route to the West Country for your main holiday or discovering the area for the first time, you’ll be amazed by the beautiful landscape often missed by those that simply pass through.


This detached, newly renovated  rustic barn offers a peaceful escape, tucked away from busy roads yet just footsteps from the heart of the village.

  • Open plan lounge/dining/kitchen with cosy electric (wood burner style) stove, 55" smart TV and Sonos.
  • Three comfortable bedrooms:

1 king size bed (upstairs bedroom 1);

1 super king sized bed configurable as two singles (bedroom 3 downstairs)

1 double bed (bedroom 2 upstairs)

  • Upstairs minstrel gallery with seating ideal for reading or working.
  • 2 bathrooms upstairs and cloakroom downstairs.
  • Free fast Wifi is available throughout the property. (ideal for WIFI calling, streaming or remote working)


Outside you'll find


  • A private fully enclosed private cottage garden overlooking fields with table and chairs to seat six.
  • Off street parking for 2 cars (please note the driveway is shared with owners cottage).Further cars or touring caravans and motor homes can be accommodated with notice.
  • A hot and cold dog wash to pamper your pooches (please bring your own towels and shampoo)


Additional notes;


  • Mobile signal on all networks in the village is poor, but strong WiFi in the barn will support WiFi calling, iMessage etc.
  • The barn is fully detached with a dedicated entrance and located within the grounds of the owners home.

  • Barrington Court, a Tudor Mansion which featured as a filming location for Wolf Hall and Lucy Worsley's Six Wives is right next door!
  • Other National Trust properties are close by including Montecute House and Lytes Cary Manor.
  • Explore the miles of public footpaths with walks to nearby villages and beautiful countryside.
  • Enjoy fine dining at the village gastro pub The Barrington Boar or  pub grub in Duke of York in the neighbouring village of Shepton Beauchamp.
  • Newly opened Barrington Bakery (10 minute walk) is open from Wednesday through Saturday for freshly baked goods.
  • You can get everyday essentials from the Shepton Beauchamp Store (20 min walk) and Plentiful shops can be found minutes away in the nearby town of Illminster (10 minute drive) or a little closer at the delightful Trading post Farm shop (described by the Times in 2021 as a mini Borough Market)
