Hectors House is a walkers and dog walking paradise, located next door to National Trust’s Barrington Court in the conservation village of Barrington surrounded by chocolate box stone and thatched cottages and rolling countryside.

The location lends itself to a short stay if you are heading further afield into the west country for your main holiday. If you are a regular west country visitor You’ll be amazed at the beautiful landscape you might be missing as you are driving through.


Hectors house is a peaceful newly renovated 3 bedroom detached rustic barn conversion. Located away from busy roads yet in the heart of the village.

  • Separate entrance and off street parking for 2 cars (only). Touring caravans and motor homes can be accommodated with notice.
  • Fully fenced private cottage garden overlooking fields. Hot and cold dog wash to pamper your pooches (please bring your own towels and shampoo)


Please note mobile signal on all networks in the village is poor, WiFi in the barn will allow WiFi calling, iMessage etc.


Hectors House is detached and within the grounds of the owners cottage. Access via separate dedicated entrance, the driveway is large and shared with the owners cottage (owner parks one car) and has two dedicated guest parking spaces.


Hectors House is situated next to the grounds of National Trust property Barrington Court, a Tudor Mansion which featured as a filming location for Wolf Hall and Lucy Wordsley’s Six Wives.
Other National Trust properties are close by including Montecute House and Lytes Cary Manor.

The village is a walkers paradise surrounded by public footpaths with walks to nearby villages.

The village gastro pub The Barrington Boar is a short walk as is the nearby Duke of York in neighbouring village of Shepton Beauchamp.

Plentiful shops can be found minutes away in the nearby town of Illminster or closer at the delightful Trading post Farm shop (described by the Times in 2021 as a mini Borough Market)
